No surprises here, the shows are tired and sad.

We moved here last August (husband is a musician) and we have been somewhat disappointed.

The performers here, as well as the genre that Branson was built on is drying up. They won't be able to perform much longer. The younger performers have no desire to rehash the old music. An example is the impersonators for Elvis and the Beatles--not many young people into that I don't imagine.

The tourist who are/were interested in the types of music that Branson has to offer are getting to old to visit, so that source will soon die off. Sad to say, but people don't live forever.

I think something new needs to start coming in. I don't know what the Chamber has in store for future generations or what they would offer newer artists but something will have to be done soon.

We personally enjoy heavy metal and 80's hair bands. We're also aware those genre's would never go over too well in Branson, but it would be nice to have 80's country or mellow rock to come onto the scene. Bands like Alabama, Journey, etc. are now facing retirement age as Jim Stafford, Andy Williams and Tony Orlando were when they chose Branson.

Our age group (40+) will be the one's touring Branson for the next 20 to 30 years, and I believe they'd be more likely to come here if the music changed a bit and gave them/us the music we listened to during our teen years.

This is just my thoughts. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject as I've just found your blog today and see that you're pretty up-to-date on Branson events.

Have a great (rainy) day!
Patti Stafford
